Why you should stay away from DIY electric works
The first reason is quite obvious: Electrical shocks!
If you are not properly trained and aware of safety procedures, chances to be electrocuted are very high. Electrical wiring is a safety hazard, but not if it’s done right the first time around, and the job’s performed by a reputable electrician, you can have peace of mind.

Sometimes when you do DIY repairs, most of your mistakes are visible, but sometimes it will only show up after some time. If you’re not an expert about things like electrical panels, wires, outlets, and all the other electrical jargon, you should not attempt to make electrical repairs. While there are some home repairs that you can attempt yourself, such as fixing a leaky faucet, electrical repairs are not included in that list. You should hire a professional electrician for all electrical repairs.
First and foremost, the main reason why you should hire a professional electrician is for your own safety, your family’s safety, and the safety of your house. Working with electricity can be extremely dangerous if you do not approach it with the right expertise, safety training, and equipment.
Not only are you risking your safety while working on the repair, but if the repair is performed incorrectly you might inadvertently create long-term safety hazards in the form of electrical shocks and fire.
The worst thing about electricity is that the consequences of a poorly done repair are not always immediately visible; wires can slowly melt behind walls, waiting for the next power surge to create the little spark that can bring your whole house to the ground!
You shouldn’t take any risk on that. There is no way that a little saving is worth a whole house!
